With a heart full of love and a spirit that lit up every room, Venora Denise Goodrich was born in Memphis, TN, to Clevon Harmon Sr. and Melvinnia Harmon, the fifth of seven cherished siblings. From an early age, she embraced her faith, accepting Christ into her life at just eight years old.
Graduating from Craigmont High School in 1976, where she proudly served as a cheerleader, Venora made history as the first African American to compete and place at Craigmont during a time of racial challenges. Her courage and determination paved the way for others, inspiring many around her.
Venora's vibrant spirit extended into her passion for music; she formed a singing group and collaborated with her dear friend Sabrina on the uplifting song "Work It Out." She dedicated 45 years to her work at Baptist and enjoyed a joyful decade at Southwind Country Club, where her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.
Known for her impeccable style, Venora embodied the essence of a fashionista with a generous heart. She was a true giver, always sharing her love and light with those around her. Coming from a family rich in faith and praise, she began her musical journey in the church choir, where her ability to shine brightly without overshadowing others became her signature.
Affectionately known as a songbird, Venora had a unique gift for bringing joy to others through her voice, often singing "I Won’t Complain" to uplift the spirits of those around her.
On September 27th, she celebrated 28 beautiful years of marriage to her beloved Reginald Goodrich. She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Clevon and Melvinna, sisters, Helen Wright and Melba Dotson, her beloved nephew Aric Bolden and her dear brother Norman Harmon.
Venora's legacy of love continues through her husband, Reggie Goodrich, bonus children: Erika Totten (Travis), grandchildren Solomon and Marley, daughter Mallory, son Sam (Sade), grandson Maverick, brother Clevon Jr. (Rubye), brother Willie Reginald (LaShonda), along with her sister Kim Whitehead (Haywood), her beloved nieces Monetta (Marlon), Sedaria (Jay), and Mica, sisters-in-laws Vikki (Antonio),Terri (Kenneth), Yvona, Tammy, Linda and brother-in-law Eric Goodrich. her beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, her best friend Jackie Brown, and goddaughter Aureon Johnson.
In every gathering, Venora was the life of the party, a radiant spirit who made the world a brighter place, forever remembered for her boundless love and giving heart.
