Obituary for Virgie M. Wright
Virgie Mae Wright, 81, died December 11, 2016.
Virgie Mae Wright was born on January 20, 1935 to the late Pastor Waymon Terrell and Mildred Outlaw in Greenwood, MS. She was full of life and joy beyond all measures.
Virgie graduated from Stone Street high school in Greenwood, MS in 1952. Virgie served her country in the United States Air Force, after completing almost two years of service. Virgie had 4 children, Elliot Tarver, Jocelyn Mayfield, Erica Tarver in Greenwood, Ms. and then made her big move to Memphis TN shortly thereafter and had her last born Leigh Wright. It was evident that she loved being around and helping people because she obtained her CNA license were she cared for one person after another. She was a big fan of Kentucky basketball and her favorite show was Jeopardy. When you was wrong or even if she was wrong about something she would tell you off the best way she knew how, like it is. There never was a dull moment when you were with her. She always had a dream that she would one day own her own Cadillac with a black rag top, and that dream came true although she never drove it, she made sure someone chauffeured her around in it, listening to her favorite singer Al-Green. But to know her, is to love her. She will be truly missed.
She leaves behind her 4 children. Her grandchildren Kimetra James (Marcus James Sr.), Travis Mayfield, Michael Tarver, Sherrelle Tarver, Sade Williams (Ellie Williams) and Ridwan Makalou. 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild, the late Arianna James. Her sister Janice and a host of family and friends.
Visitation today from 4-6 p.m at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Road, and from 1-2 p.m., with the service following at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church, 1410 Pillow St. Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
