Obituary for Wanda Yvette Jones Chambers
Wanda Yvette Jones Chambers, 61, died April 16, 2020.
Wanda Yvette Jones Chambers was born to Earl "Buck" Jones and the late Lola Jones in Cordova, TN on February 19, 1959.
Wanda was escorted into eternity on April 16, 2020 at Methodist Hospital North.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Hills Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership or Rev. J. F. Carter.
Wanda was a devoted Christian and the Lord gave her vision to start "Children's Corner" (Children's Church Ministry) where she shaped and transformed many lives. Wanda served in this ministry for over 35 years where she was affectingly known as Mrs. Wanda.
She attended Mt. Pisgah Elementary School, Germantown High School, and State Technical Institute earning a degree in computer programming. Wanda was a faithful employee with Shelby County Government for 29 years.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband of 32 years, Charles R. Chambers, Sr.; one daughter, Demetric Jones; one son, Charles "CJ" Chambers, Jr.; a sister, Tujuana L. Presley; brother, Pastor Morris (Rena) A. Jones; one grandson, DeAnthony Collins; five sisters-in-law, Vera (Thomas) Dixon, Joyce Howard, Gloria Chambers, Diane (Lynell) Ellis, and Marion Chambers; four brothers- in-law, Willie (Lorine) Chambers, Jerald (Sharon) Chambers, Dennis (Cornelius) Chambers, and Calvin Chambers; one goddaughter, Antoinette Knowlton; a dear aunt, Shirley McGory; a dear friend, Ms. Pearl Brady; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by parents; and brother, Darryl A. Jones.
Public visitation Friday, April 24, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Rd., Memphis, TN 38134.
Private funeral services.
