Helen Louise Young “Madie” was born on March 31, 1948 to the late Herman and Eva Harvey-Young in Memphis, Tennessee. Helen graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1966. It was at Historic First Baptist Beale Street Church where she confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. There she served as an usher. Helen later joined The Healing Center Full Gospel Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Mother’s Board. The Lord called her home on June 24, 2020.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Harriet L. Young. She leaves to cherish her memories three children; Stephen Smith (Deborah), Cheryl Blade, Jameta Young; one brother, Bishop William M. Young Sr. (Dianne); one sister, Marilyn Wright (Robert Jr.); four grandchildren, Tristan McKelvy, Jasmine Clark, Stephanie Smith, and Austin Walls; two great-grandchildren, Kristiana and Xavier McKelvy; A host of nieces, nephews and friends.
