Obituary for Linnie Ree Brand
Linnie Ree Smith-Brand-Jones was born in Hughes, Arkansas 19 September 1932 to Willie and Mattie Van-Smith. Linnie accepted Christ into her life at an early age at the Galilee Baptist Church in Hughes, AR. She also attended school in Hughes. Linnie and her family moved to Earle, AR in or about 1944. The family began attending the St. Luke Baptist church in Earle, AR. In 1955, Linnie and her two children moved to Memphis, TN where she met and married Eddie Brand. He later died. In 1957, she met the love of her life, Eddie Jones, and to this union four children were born. They were together until Eddie’s death in 2012. Their children are left to cherish their memories. Sons, Gregory (Cheryl), William Henry (Cheri), Marcus L. (Samantha) all of Memphis, TN. Arthur Lee (deceased). Daughters, Louisa (Joe E Randle, Jr) of Nashville and Loretta (Mitchell Gray) of Memphis. Her grandchildren, Angela Hunter, Joe (Nicky) Randle, Cicely Randle all of Nashville. Verniko Y (Marcia) Randle of Enterprise, AL. Crystal Brand of Memphis, TN. Gregory Brand, Jr of Nashville. Jasmine Brand and Omar Brand of Memphis. Mitchell (Mia) Gray of Nashville, Mya Gray of Memphis. Marcus (Diane) Brand II of Memphis. Marquize Brand, Sharnezz Brand of Memphis. Linda (Sam) Preston of Philadelphia, PA. Tyrone Brunson of Memphis. She leaves two brothers: Sylvester (Buddy) Smith of Parkin, AR and Willie (Jakie) (Mary Martha) Smith Jr of Chicago, IL. A close niece, Betty Barber and God daughters, Gail C. Thomas and Brenda Giles. And her 18 great grandchildren and 15 plus great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and galore of friends. She touched the lives of many who knew her. Silver and Gold had she none but such as she had, she gave it to those around her. Linnie Ree was preceded in death by her mother Mattie Van-Smith, Father Willie Smith Sr., a daughter Lilly, a son Arthur Lee, husband, Eddie and two brothers, Andrew and Gene, two sisters, Cora and Pauline. Linnie Ree departed this life on 18 February 2020 in a peaceful sleep in her home.
