Obituary for Marvin Gene Harden
Marvin Gene Harden, 59, died August 23, 2019.
Marvin Gene Harden was the youngest of three children born to Arnell and Ernestine Harden at City Hospital on April 14, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri. Raised by his grandmother, Virginia Brewer, he was educated in the Memphis Public School system and graduated from Tech High School in Memphis. After graduation from High School, Marvin left Memphis for Los Angeles, California where he would earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Southwest College in June, 1983.
Marvin loved R/B music and was overwhelmed to become a "Soul Train" dancer on the popular TV program hosted by the late Don Cornelius. He was a former model of menswear stylist, a Actor, a loving Uncle, a beautiful brother to many and a wise, wonderful Christian man.
Marvin was a man with dreams. In between fashion shows, model shoots, auditions for movies and plays, Soul Train dancing, collecting "Batman" memorabilia were a significant part of his interesting life. Marvin loved his family both in Memphis, California and St. Louis. Marvin never allowed grass to grow under his feet and when the time was right, he moved from California to Denver and from Denver to Sycamore, Illinois and finally to Aurora, Illinois. Every place he landed, Marvin always found a place of worship to attend and join. He was a faithful member of the Village Baptist Church whose witness speaks to the person Marvin was.
