Nia Ellyse Williams was born on March 26, 2004 in San Diego California to Lieutenant Commanders Timothy Williams and Kathylyn Blocker Williams.
As a military child, Nia attended Frontier Elementary school in Hanford California, Akers Elementary school in Lemoore California, Bon Lin Elementary school in Bartlett Tennessee, Arlington Middle school in Arlington Tennessee, and Lakeland Middle Preparatory school in Lakeland Tennessee. Nia earned her Girl Scout Bronze Award as part of the Heart of the South chapter, as well as being awarded a Gold Key Award for excellence in visual arts from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Arts. Nia graduated Arlington High School in May 2022. She was accepted into the Computer Science program and Honors College at the University of Memphis beginning September 2022. Nia was extremely fond of technology, anime, and musical theatre. Nia will be remembered for her artistic creativity, explorative interest in science and technology, searing wit, infectious giggle, and her quiet sweet spirit.
As she quietly lived, she departed this life on October 21, 2022.
Nia is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Kiyoko and James Blocker, her paternal grandfather Rufus Williams Jr., and her aunt Peggy Williams.
Nia leaves to lovingly cherish her memory her parents, Timothy and Kathylyn, her sister Kaia, her grandmother Alice Williams. Her aunts, uncles, cousins, Vivian and Martin Harris, Georgetown Texas, Marsha and Ahmad Moses, Bangor Pennsylvania, Candice and Demond Hall, Leonard Williams, Brooklyn New York, Jacqueline Blocker, Lakeland Tennessee, James Blocker, Long Beach California, Caroline Hill Blocker, Long Beach, California, Cousins, Terence Anderson, Olivia Latham, Brittany Moses, Jared Moses, Chloe and Hayden Hall, Lieutenant Colonel Miles Blocker, Michiko Blocker, Anna Blocker, William Blocker and Thomas Blocker, and a host of extended family and friends from near and far around the globe.
