Obituary for Ola Mae Sanders
Ola Mae Sanders, 75, died July 26, 2019.

Ola Mae Sanders, 75, was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 6, 1943. She transitioned peacefully in her sleep on July 26, 2019, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Ola lived in Haverstraw, New York and worked for many years as a caregiver to disabled people until her retirement in 2006, when she moved to Memphis to be near her daughter and Son-In-Law.
Ola was raised in The Church of God of Prophecy where she gave her life to Christ and found her love of music and gift of singing. Throughout her life she surrounded herself with Gospel quartet and Doo-Wop music that she played constantly. The Temptations and the Dixie Hummingbirds were among her favorites.
Ola was a lover of the craft arts. In her spare time, you could find her crocheting, sewing, or decorating her dollhouses. Ola also loved all type of games. Whether it’s Bid Whist, Spades, Bingo, Pokeno, jigsaw puzzles, or just a simple game of checkers, Ola found joy in them all. If she wasn’t playing a board-game, you could find her peacefully sitting next to a lake fishing for blue gill, perch and rainbow trout.
While working full-time, Ola received her college degrees in Business Management from Dominican College in Orangeburg, NY. An accomplishment she was extremely proud of. Ola was a loving mother and homemaker. Despite her busy schedules, family and friends were Ola’s passion and delight. She was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. Ola had a way of turning any occasion into a special event. Her greatest joy was to bring happiness to all those she loved.
Her final years were with the staff at Signature Healthcare of Memphis that provided her care until her passing. The family gives everyone there who cared for and befriended Ola their greatest and most heart-felt gratitude and appreciation.
Ola was preceded by her father James Cleveland Sanders, her mother, Maisy Lee and her brother Linwood Sanders. She is survived by her brother, Frank Lee, and her daughter, Alisa Anderson Roberts, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends who she loved dearly.
